JEC Has Restoration Plan for Major Outages

Power Restoration Process

If a power outage occurs, Jackson Energy will work hard to restore power as soon as possible. However, widespread power outages after a major storm can take days to repair, so we do ask for your patience. We take the following steps to restore power to the community:

  1. Damage to larger transmission towers, transmission lines and substations are made by our wholesale power supplier, East Kentucky Power, which owns this equipment.
  2. Jackson Energy clears obstructions and repairs primary distribution poles and power lines.
  3. Jackson Energy then inspects and repairs secondary service drops in residential areas.

Your Responsibilities

Jackson Energy will work as quickly as possible to restore your power, but if anything from the weatherhead down to your meter base is damaged by a storm, an electrician must repair it and an electrical inspection must be completed by a certified electrical inspector before we can reconnect your power.

Jackson Energy is responsible for repairs of electric service up to the point of connection at a customer’s home. Having any required repairs completed before Jackson Energy crews arrive at your home can save time in the restoration of power.

To report a power outage, call 1800-262-7480. During major outages, please call once every 24 hours to report that your power is out.

Jackson Energy will post major storm updates on its web site and will provide information to local radio stations.
