Avoid utility bill scam - Stimulus money IS NOT paying utility bills

According to a story on msnbc.com, a new scam hitting residents across the country claims that federal stimulus money is available to pay electric bills. All the caller needs is is your bank account information, social security number and other personal information.

The problem is that there is no such program. Last week more than 2,000 people in Tampa, Florida, fell victim to the scam and other victims have been reported in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Indiana and across New England states.

So beware... There is no federal stimulus program to pay electric bills.
